After exploring the future, visit the Monastery of Saint Benedict to experience the contrast between the simple exterior and the interior covered in golden ornaments, a legacy from the Baroque era. You will see the Rio 2016 Olympic Cauldron, made by American artist Anthony Howe before you reach Rio’s historic streets. You can see one of the former imperial palaces and discover more about significant events in Brazilian history that took place nearby at the Praça XV.
